Almighty God, whose eternal Word breathes life into all creation and equips your servants for every good work, we give you thanks for the holy Scriptures, a treasure given to guide us in truth. Grant us, we pray, hearts that are eager to learn, minds that diligently study, and spirits that deeply absorb your divine wisdom. May this sacred text strengthen our faith, correct our errors, and train us in righteousness, so that through its power, we may be thoroughly furnished for all the good purposes you have ordained for us. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A prayer for the divine inspiration and practical utility of Holy Scripture 2026-10-31
Loving God, Creator of all that is, we thank you for your living and active Word, which guides us, strengthens us, and reveals your truth to us. As we gather to worship, open our hearts to receive your wisdom, that we may live lives worthy of your calling.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your Holy Scriptures, your inspired Word that teaches, rebukes, corrects, and trains us in righteousness. We pray that your Church throughout the world will diligently study and faithfully apply your Word, growing in wisdom and grace, and being equipped for every good work you have called us to do. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for all those in authority across the nations, that they may be guided by your truth and justice, acting with integrity and compassion for the good of all people. We pray for creation, that we may be wise stewards of all you have made, caring for the environment and all its creatures with respect and love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
In our local community, we pray for our schools and colleges, that teachers and students alike may embrace the pursuit of knowledge with a thirst for truth and understanding, and that all may be equipped for service. We pray for our local council and all who serve our community, that they may be guided by wisdom and integrity. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We lift up to you all who are suffering, those who are sick in body or mind, those who are lonely or afraid, and all who feel lost or discouraged. Grant them your healing, comfort, and peace, and equip them with your strength to face each day. We pray especially for… May they know your presence, your healing, and your peace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We give thanks for all those who have gone before us in faith, whose lives and testimonies continue to inspire us. May we, like them, be thoroughly equipped by your Word for every good work, and may we one day share in the eternal inheritance you have prepared for us. Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
