  • A prayer for The Communion of Saints and God's Eternal Word 2026-11-01

Loving God, in this season of All Saints, we are reminded of your eternal kingdom and the glorious company of those who have gone before us in faith. As we gather in your presence, inspired by the lives of saints, both known and unknown, we lift our hearts in thanksgiving and petition. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the eternal Word through whom all things were made.

Let us pray for the Church, and for all your faithful people throughout the world. We pray for the Church of England, and for all within our own diocese and parish. Guide your bishops, priests, and deacons, that they may faithfully proclaim your Word and administer your Sacraments. Strengthen all who serve in ministry, that their lives may be a testament to your love. May we, as a church, be a beacon of hope and a community of radical welcome, reflecting the diversity of your heavenly kingdom. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for the world, for leaders and for peace. We pray for all nations, and for those in authority. Grant wisdom and justice to those who govern, that they may rule with integrity and compassion. Protect all those who work for peace and reconciliation in troubled lands. Inspire us all to live as citizens of your kingdom, where justice and righteousness prevail, and to reject all forms of division and conflict. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for our local community and for all people. We pray for our parish and our local neighbourhood. Bless all our schools and places of work. Strengthen the bonds of community, that we may care for one another and serve those in need. May we be a people who embody the Beatitudes, seeking righteousness, showing mercy, and working for peace in all our dealings. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for those who suffer and those in need. We hold before you all who are sick in body, mind, or spirit, all who are in pain or distress, and all who mourn. Comfort and heal them, granting them strength and peace. We remember especially those whose names are on our hearts today [pause for names or silent reflection]. May they know your healing presence and the support of your people. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for the departed and for the saints in glory. We give thanks for the lives of all your saints, who have shone as lights in their generations. We remember those we love who have died, that they may be granted the fullness of eternal life in your presence. May we, through your grace, follow in their footsteps, living lives that honour you, and sharing in the everlasting joy you have prepared for all who love you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we have brought before you the needs of your Church, your world, and all your people. Help us to live lives worthy of your calling, reflecting the light of Christ in all that we do and say.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • A prayer for the steadfast faith of your apostles, the unity of the Church, and peace across the world 2026-10-28

Loving God, as we gather to remember the steadfast faith of your apostles, we are reminded of your enduring love and the call to unity in Christ. You are the foundation of our hope, the cornerstone of our Church, and the light that guides us through the complexities of life. As we prepare to offer our prayers, help us to focus our hearts and minds on you, and to pray with sincerity and faithfulness.

Heavenly Father, we give thanks for the foundational work of your apostles, Simon and Jude, and for all who faithfully proclaim your word. We pray for your Church throughout the world, that it may be built upon the sure foundation of Christ, united in spirit and doctrine, and be a holy temple acceptable to you. May all leaders and bishops of your Church be guided by your wisdom and truth. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all those in authority in our nation and across the world. Grant them discernment, justice, and compassion, that they may govern with integrity and work for the peace and well-being of all people. We pray for an end to conflict and for reconciliation in all troubled regions. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We lift up our local community to you. Bless our parish, our neighbours, and all who live and work here. May we be a place of welcome, where love and understanding flourish, and where your justice and peace are actively pursued. We pray for our local councils and all who serve in our community. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We bring before you all who are suffering in body, mind, or spirit. We pray for those who are ill, for those who are lonely, for those who are oppressed, and for all who are in need. Grant them your healing grace, your comfort, and your peace. We hold especially in our hearts those who have asked for our prayers, and those known only to you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We give thanks for the lives and witness of your saints, especially Simon and Jude. We commend to your eternal care all those who have died, that they may find rest and peace in your everlasting kingdom. We pray for those who mourn, that they may know your sustaining love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, you have built your Church on the foundation of the apostles, and Christ himself is its chief cornerstone. Unite us in spirit by their teaching, that we may be a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
