  • A prayer for God's ownership and human stewardship of creation 2026-10-21

Loving God, you are the source of all life and the sustainer of all creation. As we gather in your presence, we reflect on the truth that all that is, belongs to you. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, that we may be equipped to live lives worthy of your calling, eager to do your will, and to share in the joy of your kingdom.

We pray for the Church throughout the world. For all who lead and serve within it, that they may be wise stewards of your gifts, and faithful messengers of your Gospel. For those whose faith is tested by persecution or doubt, that they may know your strength and steadfast love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for the earth, your creation, and all who inhabit it. For governments and leaders in our nation and across the world, that they may govern with justice, wisdom, and compassion. For all who work to protect and heal our planet, and for a renewed respect for the natural world you have made. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for our local community. For our parish, our schools, and our neighbours, that we may live together in peace and mutual support. For those struggling with hardship, loneliness, or uncertainty, that they may find hope and welcome. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who suffer today. For the sick and the dying, for those in pain or distress, and for all who care for them. For those who are oppressed, forgotten, or afraid, that they may experience your healing, comfort, and peace. We remember especially [Insert names here, or pause for silent reflection]. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those who have died. May they rest in peace and rise in glory, knowing the fullness of your love. We give thanks for their lives and for the witness they have borne. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Sovereign God, owner of all, you have entrusted so much to us. Help us always to be faithful stewards of your creation, your church, and your love. As we go forth from this place, empower us by your Spirit to live lives that reflect your glory and your boundless mercy.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

We pray for all who suffer. Bring your healing touch to those who are ill in body or mind, and grant them comfort and peace. Strengthen those who are facing hardship, loneliness, or fear. May they know your presence with them, and be surrounded by love and practical support. We remember especially those on our parish prayer list: [Insert names, or pause for silent reflection on those held in the church's care]. May they know your presence, your healing, and your peace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, you call us to be still and know that you are God, the source of all power and truth. We trust that you are at work in the world, bringing about your purposes. Receive these prayers, offered in faith and hope, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
