  • A prayer for God's remembrance of faithful service and love 2026-10-20

Lord, as I reflect on your word, your promise in Hebrews 6:10 echoes in my heart: “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.”

Sometimes, in the quiet moments, I wonder if my efforts truly matter. Do the small acts of kindness, the times I’ve gone the extra mile, the love I try to show, even when it’s difficult, truly register with you? Do they get lost in the busyness of the world, or perhaps forgotten in the grand sweep of your divine plan?

But your word assures me that you see. You are not unjust. You do not overlook the labour of love. You remember the sacrifices made, the patience shown, the hands extended in service to your people, because in helping them, I am, in essence, showing love to you.

Lord, I confess, there are times when weariness sets in, or when my efforts seem to yield little immediate fruit. In those moments, help me to recall this truth: that my work, offered in love, is never in vain. Help me to trust that you are honouring it, even when I cannot see the full picture.

Strengthen my resolve to continue serving, to keep extending love and help to those you place in my path, knowing that each act, no matter how small, is a testament to my devotion to you, and is held securely in your perfect memory.

Lord, help me to live with the assurance that my faithfulness is seen and valued by you, so that I may press on with joy and perseverance.

    Amen.

Loving God, source of all strength and faithfulness, as we gather in your presence this day, we are reminded of your unwavering love and the promises you hold for us. Help us, by your Spirit, to live lives that reflect your goodness and to serve you with eager hearts, knowing that you see and cherish every act of love and service we offer.

We pray for your Church throughout the world. For all those who lead and serve within it, that they may be guided by your wisdom and empowered by your Spirit to faithfully minister to your people. We pray for those who build up your Church through their diligent work and acts of love, that their efforts may not be forgotten but may bear fruit for your kingdom. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for your creation, for the earth and all that is in it. Guide our leaders and those in authority to make just and wise decisions that protect this precious gift and promote well-being for all. We pray for our local community, that your love may be evident in our relationships and that we may work together for its flourishing. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who suffer, for those who are sick in body, mind, or spirit, for those who are lonely or in despair, and for all who face hardship or injustice. We pray for those who care for them, that they may have strength, compassion, and wisdom. We especially remember those on our parish prayer list [insert names, or pause for silent reflection] and all those we hold in our hearts today. May they know God’s comforting presence, healing, and peace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who have died, remembering their lives and the love they showed. We give thanks for their contributions to your kingdom and pray that they may rest in your eternal peace. We also pray for those who mourn, that they may find comfort and hope in you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, we thank you for your faithfulness, which never falters. As you remember our work and our love, strengthen our resolve to continue serving you and your people. We offer these prayers, and all those held in the quiet places of our hearts, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
