  • A prayer for diligent and approved workers handling the word of truth 2026-11-05

Faithful God, as we gather in your presence, we confess our need for your guidance and truth. In this time after remembering the saints and before we await the coming of Christ, open our hearts to your living Word and empower us to be your faithful workers. May our lives, in all their aspects, reflect your truth and glory.

Heavenly Father, we pray for your Church throughout the world. Strengthen all those who teach and lead, that they may faithfully handle the Word of truth, rightly dividing it with wisdom and love. Guide your people to be diligent and approved workers, not ashamed of their calling, but dedicated to sharing the good news of your kingdom.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all in authority, for world leaders and those in our local communities. Grant them wisdom and integrity, that they may govern justly and serve the common good. May they always strive to understand and uphold your truth, working to build a society where righteousness and peace prevail.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Loving God, we pray for our parish family and our local neighbourhood. May we, as your workers, be diligent in our service to one another, showing compassion and offering practical help where it is needed. Help us to live out your truth in our daily interactions, bringing light and hope to those around us.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Compassionate Lord, we hold before you all who are suffering, those who are sick in body or mind, those who are lonely, oppressed, or in despair. Grant them your healing presence, comfort their hearts, and provide for their needs. May they know your sustaining power and the hope of your enduring love. We pray especially for… May they know your presence, your healing, and your peace.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Eternal God, we give thanks for all those who have faithfully served you in this life and are now at rest. May we be inspired by their example, and may we look forward with hope to the resurrection and the life of your kingdom. We remember before you… May they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

So we bring these prayers before you, O God, trusting in your unfailing love and the power of your Son, Jesus Christ. May we, as your approved workers, faithfully present ourselves to you, living and serving in accordance with your truth.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • A prayer for stillness and knowing God's sovereignty 2026-10-14

Loving God, we gather in your presence as we reflect on your steadfast strength and immeasurable power. In this season of Ordinary Time, help us to move beyond the noise of the world and find stillness in your truth. As we hear your word today, quiet our hearts and minds, that we may know you more deeply and live lives that bring you glory.

We pray for your Church throughout the world. Strengthen your people to be witnesses of your peace and truth in all nations. Inspire church leaders with wisdom and humility, that they may faithfully guide your flock and foster unity in Christ. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for your creation, for this earth which you have made and sustain. May we be wise stewards of all that you have entrusted to us, caring for the environment and all living creatures with reverence and responsibility. We pray for all governments and leaders, that they may govern with justice, compassion, and a deep respect for human dignity. Guide them in their decisions, that they may promote peace and well-being for all. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for our local community. Bless all who live and work here. Strengthen our relationships with one another, that we may build a community of welcome, support, and mutual care. Inspire us to serve our neighbours with generosity and to work for justice and peace in our streets and in our homes. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who suffer. Bring your healing touch to those who are ill in body or mind, and grant them comfort and peace. Strengthen those who are facing hardship, loneliness, or fear. May they know your presence with them, and be surrounded by love and practical support. We remember especially those on our parish prayer list: [Insert names, or pause for silent reflection on those held in the church's care]. May they know your presence, your healing, and your peace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who have died, that they may rest in your eternal peace. We give thanks for their lives and for the witness they bore. May we, too, live lives that honour you and proclaim your glory among the nations and in the earth. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, you call us to be still and know that you are God, the source of all power and truth. We trust that you are at work in the world, bringing about your purposes. Receive these prayers, offered in faith and hope, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    The Church of Christ

Lord, we pray for the universal Church, that it may be a beacon of your love and truth in the world. As the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples at Pentecost, may it continue to inspire and guide us. May we, like them, have the courage to proclaim your word in every language and to every people.

We pray for the leaders of the world, that they may be filled with the wisdom and compassion of your Spirit. May they be guided by your principles of justice and peace, and work towards the welfare of all people.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

    Those who suffer

We lift up those who are suffering in body, mind, or spirit. May they feel your healing presence, and may they be comforted by the promise of your Spirit, the ‘living water’ that sustains us in all circumstances.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

    The communion of saints

We remember those who have gone before us, those who have shown us the way of faith. May we be inspired by their lives and, following in their footsteps, proclaim the good news of your love to the world.
