  • A prayer for Wise Building on the Foundation of Christ's Words 2026-11-04

Loving God, as we gather in your presence, we hear again the wisdom of your Son, Jesus Christ, calling us to build our lives on the solid foundation of his words. In this season of Ordinary Time, help us to grow in faith and understanding, that we may not only listen but also act, living out your truth in our daily lives. Gather our hearts and minds as we bring our intercessions before you.

For your Church throughout the world, we pray that all who proclaim your word may also embody its truth, building lives of integrity and service. Strengthen your people to be wise builders, discerning truth from falsehood and acting with conviction. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For all leaders and authorities in our nation and across the globe, grant them wisdom and discernment. May they govern with justice and compassion, making decisions that are founded on sound principles and lead to the well-being of all people. May they understand the true cost of their actions and build societies that stand firm against the storms of injustice and conflict. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For our local community, we pray for a spirit of wisdom and practical action. May we, as individuals and as a church, be builders of strong foundations, fostering relationships of trust, offering practical help to those in need, and creating a place where all feel secure and valued. May our actions reflect your enduring love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For all who are suffering, whether in body, mind, or spirit. We pray for those facing hardship, loneliness, or despair. May they find strength and comfort in your presence, and may others be moved to offer practical support and kindness, building bridges of hope where there is despair. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those who have recently died, and for all who mourn them. May they be received into your eternal peace, and may those left behind find solace in the enduring truths of your love and the hope of resurrection. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

So we bring these prayers before you, O God, the architect of our salvation and the foundation of all truth. Strengthen us to hear your words and to build our lives upon them, that our foundations may be secure, our witness clear, and our hope unshakeable. Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • A prayer for God's constant support and salvation 2026-10-18

Loving God, as we gather in your presence, we thank you for the gift of this day and for the assurance that you are our constant Saviour. You are the God who daily bears our burdens, and we come before you now to offer our prayers, confident in your unwavering love and strength. Open our hearts and minds to your will, that our intercessions may reflect your boundless compassion and mercy.

Lord, we pray for your Church throughout the world, especially for the Festival of Luke the Evangelist. We give thanks for the dedication of Saint Luke, who so carefully recorded the life and teachings of your Son, and for his ministry as both evangelist and physician of the soul. We pray that your Church may always be empowered by your Spirit to proclaim the Gospel with love and to offer healing to all who are brokenhearted. We pray for all those who dedicate their lives to spreading your word and caring for your people, that they may know your strength and guidance in their ministry.

Gracious God, creator of all that is, we thank you for the beauty and bounty of your creation. We pray for a renewed commitment to stewardship of this earth, that we may be wise and caring guardians of your world for future generations. We lift up to you our nation and all nations, and those in authority. Grant them wisdom, justice, and compassion in their decisions, that they may work for the good of all people, fostering peace and understanding. We pray for an end to conflict and for reconciliation where there is division.

Heavenly Father, we pray for our own community and parish. Bless all who live and work here. We pray for our schools, our local businesses, and our public services. Strengthen the bonds of fellowship among us, and inspire us to reach out with love and support to our neighbours. We pray for those who feel isolated or in need, that they may know they are seen and cared for.

Lord, you are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We bring before you all who are suffering in body, mind, or spirit. We pray for those who are ill, those who are grieving, and those who are struggling with anxiety or despair. We remember all those on our parish prayer list: [Insert names here, or pause for silent reflection] We ask for your healing touch upon them, for comfort, peace, and hope. Grant strength and perseverance to those who care for them, and may they know your presence in their darkest hours.

Eternal God, in whose presence we live, we commend to your care all those who have died. We give thanks for their lives and for the love they shared with us. We pray that they may rest in peace and rise in glory, knowing the fullness of your eternal love.

Sovereign Lord, you daily bear our burdens and fulfil the desires of those who fear you. We thank you for hearing our prayers and for your unfailing love. Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
