  • A prayer for Declaring God's Glory and Marvellous Deeds among All Peoples 2026-11-08

Loving God, as we gather in your presence, we reflect on your boundless glory and the wondrous works you have accomplished. You call us to declare your greatness among all people, to share the good news of your love and redemption. Fill us with your Spirit, that our lives may be a testament to your marvellous deeds, and empower us to proclaim your name with joy and conviction.

For the Church: Gracious God, we pray for your Church throughout the world. May your people everywhere be united in faith and mission, boldly declaring your glory among the nations and sharing your marvellous deeds with all peoples. Strengthen those who face persecution for their witness, and inspire leaders to guide your Church with wisdom and courage, reflecting your love to all. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For the World and its Leaders: Sovereign Lord, we lift up the world into your hands. We pray for all those in authority, that they may govern with justice, wisdom, and compassion, reflecting the order and goodness of your reign. We pray for peace in lands torn by conflict and for reconciliation where divisions exist. May your truth and justice shine into the darkest corners of the earth, and may your marvellous deeds be made known to all nations. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For our Local Community: Heavenly Father, we pray for our own community. Bless our neighbours, our schools, and our local businesses. Inspire us to live out your love in practical ways, sharing your goodness and mercy with those we meet. May our lives and actions bear witness to your glorious name and draw others to know your marvellous love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those who Suffer: Compassionate God, we bring before you all those who are suffering in body, mind, or spirit. We pray for those who are sick, lonely, grieving, or in any kind of need. May they know your presence, your healing, and your peace. We also pray for those who care for them, that they may be sustained by your strength and love. May your marvellous deeds of healing and comfort reach out to all who are in distress. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For the Departed: Eternal God, we commend to your loving care all those who have died. We give thanks for their lives and for the witness they bore to your glory. May they rest in peace and rise with you in glory, knowing the fullness of your marvellous love for evermore. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

So we bring these prayers before you, O God, trusting in your unfailing love and power. May you inspire us daily to declare your glory among the nations and to share your marvellous deeds with all peoples, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • A prayer for the living word of God that transforms, reveals, and guides 2026-11-02

    Opening Prayer

Faithful God, you speak into our lives with a power that transforms and reveals. As we gather, we acknowledge your living Word, which pierces the deepest parts of our being and guides our steps. Grant us open hearts to receive your truth today, and strengthen our resolve to live by its light, especially as we remember those who have gone before us in faith.

    Intercessions

Loving Father, we pray for your Church throughout the world. May your Word continue to be a living and active force within it, sharpening our understanding, clarifying our purpose, and deepening our love for one another. Guide your people to be faithful stewards of your truth, so that through them, your light may shine into all the dark places of the world.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Creator, we lift to you the nations and all in authority. Grant wisdom and discernment to those who govern, that their decisions may reflect your justice and your compassion. We pray for peace and stability across the globe, and for the protection of all creation, that it may continue to flourish under your care.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of our community, we pray for our parish, for our neighbours, and for all who live in this place. May your Word shape our lives and relationships, fostering kindness, understanding, and a spirit of service. Bless all who work for the common good, and draw us closer together in fellowship and mutual support.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Compassionate Saviour, we bring before you all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit. We pray for those who are ill, for those who grieve, and for all who are in distress. Your Word penetrates to the deepest woundedness; we ask that it may bring healing, comfort, and hope. We remember especially those who have died, and pray that they may rest in your eternal peace, and that we may know your presence sustaining us in our loss.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Eternal God, we give thanks for all those who have gone before us in faith, who have lived and died in your love. We give thanks for their witness, their sacrifice, and their example. May we, like them, be continually renewed by your Word, and live lives that are pleasing to you, so that one day, we may be gathered with them in your presence.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

    Closing Prayer

So we bring these prayers before you, O God, who are the Word made flesh, the source of all life and truth. Strengthen us by your living Word, that we may discern your will, live by your truth, and find our eternal home in your presence.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
