This may be finished, it may be not,
I’ve yet to get past the wording clot
so in the meantime enjoy my rhyme
and I will be writing another time…

Oh, my Lord, He loves us all,
I beg thee see the truth
and answer to Gods open call
to live with love and youth.
He grants us life, to do His will
upon this Earth so bleak.
I wonder while I tread this mill
if I am seen as meek?

To walk the path of good is hard,
it’s often less well travelled.
So many temptations, be on your guard
or else be cruelly unravelled.
Wear Gods armour, pray each day
and turn yourself from evil,
for the devil and his hunters prey
upon the soul primaeval.

I pity those who wake, to die,
and envy those who will
sleep peacefully, as a baby, aye
so calm, and very still.
I lie here till my Lord doth come
to wake me from my slumber
and on that day rejoice, it’s done,
I am no more a number.

This is my ‘verse of today’ :)

Father, God in Heaven,
we thank you from the bottom of our hearts
for everything that is good in our lives.
Thank you for allowing us to share in your love,
for being a vessel to share that love with others,
and granting us the opportunity
to see the joy that it brings to others.
We often do not spend enough time with you,
but are thankful that you are always here with us,
despite our inadequacies,
Help us to become better disciples,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who resides with you, and intercedes on our behalf.

Amen

There are many types of prayer. I imagine the most used outside of the church environment are for supplication or intercession; for me or those I lift up to you. Many times when we pray we are usually praying because of something that is happening around us, to us, or to someone else, and these events fit into those two categories, but perhaps the one we’re most negligent in is just thankfulness to God.

Sometimes, instead of pleas to help me, help them, give me, give them, it’s about saying thank you:

Lord God, we give praise to you,
thank you for everything you do.
Thank you for being there;
for listening, when we do not,
and for friendship, when we are not.
Thank you for guiding us through life
and for all the things you provide.

Amen

For everyone who has friends and family, or knows someone in their life who is older and/or is presently suffering from ill health of one form or another, this prayer is for you and for those you know:

Lord, every day we grow older,
some lose strength, for some, our health;
our youth withers away,
so we pray to you this day
do not let our spirit follow the path of our flesh.
Grant us, through the power of your Holy Spirit, a seed of hope,
with hope, you strengthen our minds, our souls and our bodies;
allow us to be genuinely alive, bring out our youth within us
and permit us to bathe but for a moment in your love,
for in that fraction of time you fortify our souls
and give us strength beyond strength.

By your will, we live,
and by your will, we act,
enable us to do so every day,
with youthfulness,
with health,
with wisdom.

Amen.

I have the desire to publish frequently as I wish to share my journey through bible study, prayer and through life’s many experiences.  I hope to share prayers for everything that comes to heart on a regular basis, so with that in mind I share this prayer for a new start:

Lord Jesus, today I start on a new journey,
an adventure that I share with an open heart,
a path that I pray will bring us all closer to knowing you.
Help us all to share in your wisdom and in your word,
bring the Holy Spirit upon us all to guide us.
Support us in whatever troubles may lie ahead,
save us from evil intent and strife.
Assist us all in opening hearts and minds to you,
that we may share in Gods love of us.
